CONTRIBUTOR - Ajla Aksamija, Ph.D


Dr. Aksamija is an Associate Professor at the Univ. of Massachusetts Amherst and Building Technology Researcher/Associate at Perkins + Will. She directed Perkins + Will Building Technology Lab ("Tech Lab"), which was founded in 2008 as one of the first practice-based research centers focused on advanced building technologies. Her research expertise includes building science and sustainability, emerging technologies, digital design and representations, and information modeling.

She is the author of books, "Sustainable Facades: Design Methods for High-Performance Building Envelopes" and "Integrating Innovation in Architecture: Design, Methods and Technology for Progressive Practice and Research", published by John Wiley & Sons. She has authored over seventy research articles and publications, and is a frequent speaker at scientific and industry-based conferences. She is the founder and editor of Perkins+Will Research Journal, one of the first research journals coming from architectural practice.
